I would recommend mulberries. They are easy to propagate are low maintenance, great fresh eating, makes great pies, wine, jam, freeze well, work good in pancakes. There reliable production trees and great summer shade. The only down side I have is that it can be hard to keep neighbor hood kids out of the trees when it has fruit.

I got here completely on accident by clicking on a link I didn't mean too. So here I am. Found a lot of people who grow like I do. I never even knew the term permaculter then one day a gardening friend ask how I learned it. I told her I don't know what that is this is just what me grandma taught me and it makes more sense the doping chemicals on everything and I'm just doing what nature does. Later that night I looked up permaculter on YouTube and a couple years later watching those type of videos my finger slipped and I found my self here.

Hi Frank, fellsmere  it not very far I'm in southwest  Palm Bay. May be we can help each other or trade. I've been gardening for 20 year here although I have only been on this lot a couple of years. I'm trying to get a load of mulch now the soil on this lot is sand and has never been worked before I came along. So far I have put in a lot of fruit trees,set up a veggie bed witch I just dug out and put in logs and bio char then put my crappy sand back on top. I'm building a key hole garden on top of that and hope to have it ready soon. I'm just now moving to perennial vegetables having never did that other than asparagus. Just to let you know I cloned mulberries this year and have some for trade if you want. Looking forward to seeing if there is something we can do.

Hi Sharon I'm in Florida but out in Brevard but my parents live over there in Brooksville so I go over a couple times a year. I'm looking for walking onions and tree collards if you have any maybe we can trade something. Thanks for your time.

I moved in to a house on a well a few years back and had the same problem. Since I drink mostly tea it was a big deal. I started keeping bottled water around for my tea and wifes coffee. I put in some good inline filters and it helped the water but the film was still there. One day after about a year I ran out of bottled water and had to use tap water and much to my surprise the film was gone. I came to the conclusion that it just had to be flushed out and that took a long time.

I'm in the subtropics of central Florida and my soil is basically sand it sucks. To help with my soil problems and the long drought every spring I'm using both biochare and hugelkultur to address these problems. These is what I've done. First I dug a very big hole. Filled it with very big oak logs. Then compost. Then biochare  then hay,it was free so I put it in. Then a layer of native soil/sand and then a mix of biochare ,rock dust,wood ash peat moss and native soil. What I'm saying is it took both hugelkultur and biochare to solve the problem
