Biography

In April of 2018 I bought 1.4ha/3.5 acres of land in Portugal. Planning to build a rammed earth house in a couple of years, plant an orchard, grow lots of herbs and vegetables. Plenty of rainfall for growing lots of things with average of 1014 mm (39.9 in) of rainfall per year.

Goal is to be as much off-grid as I can. My land is on the Formoselha side of Santo Varão in the Coimbra district. After I get my house finished, I would like to build additional houses on the property for like-minded people to join me. Located ~14 mi /22 km from the ocean.

Hi, Andreas,

In April I purchased a bit more than 1 hectare in Santo Varão. As you can see in the image (if it attached), I'm starting with a blank canvas. Very few trees and other plants: two bay trees, a quince, wild roses, blackberries, bamboo, elms, plum and some other miscellaneous things I haven't yet identified.

Still thinking, researching and making drawings. I may get something started in April of 2019 when I'm back in Portugal. I can always use a bit of local inspiration. If you have blogs, Facebook or Instagram, I'd love to take a look.
