Hi Justin and Justyn,
I am also in Southeastern WV and thinking along the same lines. I would be interested in exploring these ideas too.
Some feedback on your idea Justin:
If you are allowing RVs or any type of construction, you will run into sewage and water and electricity issues. How are you planning to deal with that?
In addition, as Justyn was saying, while plots could be allocated, you will need some sort of membership association to deal with shared costs and setting rules for the community.
Justyn,
Is Mavis open on the weekends?? Would like to come visit.
Best,
Candace

Welcome Alan! So excited to read your book.

My question is about preparing for species (both plant and animal) change due to the changing climate, weather patterns, and even seasonal patterns. I would like to encourage growth of native/endemic species as much as possible, but have been told by longtime residents  that they are having to plant more tropical trees if they are planning for a tree lifespan of 30 or more years, which of course, changes the understory plants and even the pollinators. Any guidance on this issue would be very helpful, thank you!

Just read through a couple more responses and would like to add my experience with herbs. I have also found great relief through herbs and diet choice, so much so that I started an herbal tea/blends company because of it!
The emotional component of brain trauma has come up a few times. It definitely has impacted me in a variety of ways! Emotions are often not discussed enough in the healing process. Make sure you have sympathetic friends/family to help you through this component of the healing process.
And lastly, there is a psychological/spiritual component to the healing process too, especially if you experienced a near death experience. I find that the British do the best job at having a balanced, not too woo-woo approach to these aspects.

I also have experienced multiple head (and other body) trauma and have been dealing with long term effects. A couple things I have noticed, which seem to be common:
1) I have developed food allergies;
2) I occasionally have trouble with balance, and until I figured out the triggers (food related and electronics), I kept falling;
3) I NEED Nature-too much external human derived stimuli makes me irritable, have headaches, and become physically ill. The stimuli are particularly noise related and flashing lights (especially blue).

Some items that help me:
-taking baths,
-taking naps in a quiet area,
-spending time with animals.

As for regaining memory/rewriting neural pathways, I read a book years ago that helped me. It was called The Memory Palace. It describes visualizing memories in your brain into related rooms, floors, etc. it really helped me! Before my big accident, I had an eidetic memory. Afterwards, I couldn’t remember a grocery list for five minutes. My memory is much improved now.

Hi,
I have had various swelling, inflammation, and nw, bone spurs most of my life. Allopathic medicine diagnoses me as having psoriatic arthritis.
The best I ever felt is when I was 100% raw for six months!!
The second best are functional teas I make and sell. I find my bath teas are particularly effective. Website is https://chandratea.square.site
Third thing that really works for me is raw almonds-they release a chemical when you bite into them that is particularly good for the synovial fluid in your joints. Mayo Clinic researched this in 90s.

Hi,
I am very interested in visiting you and your family, and staying for a week or whatever is comfortable to see if we are all a long term fit. Do you currently have space for one person, a medium sized dog and a cat? Please email me at fooddiplomacy@yahoo.com.
Regards,

Hi VAers! Just moved to VA from Texas and am interested in natural design and build. Looking for some property but meanwhile would be delighted to help others and gain experience. PS I started a botanical medicine company a year ago and am really excited to grow everything I need right on property. Please email me if you would like to connect. Fooddiplomacy@yahoo.com

Hi Ted,
Did you find your people or are you still looking?

hi!
I am new to this site and forum and really enjoying what I have read so far.
My question is about the rapidly changing growing environment in North Texas. Texas Trees Foundation states that when planning for a 50 year lifespan of a tree, one should source species previously endemic to Central Mexico, due to our changing weather patterns (and even soil conditions).
Does anyone have any related info for herbs and medicinal flowers for this region?
My land is located on the edge of blackland prairie and sandy soil.
Thank you, Candace
