I'm currently trying to get land to transition my family (wife plus 2 kids) to farming but I will also have to work remote full time to support the transition. So it feels like the effort to transition from wage slave to freedom is going to be super hard. I believe if we can make it a lot easier then we might get a ton of people to do this. I wonder, as well as skip, if we could have some type of program to help people get started. Ideally, you start off in the education phase, move to the relocation phase (either skip or purchasing your own land), and finally into the production phase, with guidance at each step of the way from people who've done it before. What would also be awesome is if we were able to connect people with restaurants or grocers so when they got started growing they would have a cash crop and a market for it. If this program got really dialed in then we would be able to tell who would be able to make it work and provide loans to qualified people. Then as transitions start happening more, local communities of permies would be able to form up and offer support to newly transitioning permies. A pipe dream but we have to start somewhere...
