Has anyone here done the course? Does anyone have any thoughts on it or on the teacher Heather Jo Flores? I love the format but I want to make sure I'm learning the right stuff before I dive in. Thank you!

I have not taken this course, but Flores' book "Food Not Lawns" was one of my first introductions to Permaculture thinking. Besides the gardening/plants aspect of Permaculture, she wrote a lot in that book about responsible/sustainable lifestyle and energy choices, and much about social outreach as well. I know from her website that she has a particular focus on women in Permaculture, too.

And I believe that free course was the one that UK (Wales) Permaculturist Liz Zorab of Byther Farm (https://bytherfarm.com/) took and very much enjoyed, as narrated in her book, "Grounded".

You might try the very first lesson/topic/session and see if it and you mesh! You can only gain, not lose!

I like to take several PDC courses to compare, continue education, and to experience different climate zones. Heather Jo Flores online permaculture design course was not free at the time I signed up, but was the cheapest of any that I have experienced. I quickly understood why. First, I found that I just didn’t mesh with her style and teaching technique. The cringe factor was that she consistently dragged her personal problems into the course forums and pushed off meeting deadlines to release new classes. I was finished with my end design and presentation before she got around to finishing the course itself. I ended up leaving the course because I got tired of waiting. I am still subscribed to the Eco Design Hive forum and after a year, people in the course are still having trouble with her lack of communication and have been waiting for her to review work in order to become “certified”. When approached about the problem, I was met with yet more excuses and personal problem stories. It just wasn’t worth the problems
