Morning all - not sure if this is the right place to post this - I have never been in a forum before.

We are making our home from reclaimed shipping containers and I have read in some places that a natural living roof is both "eco friendly" and offers excellent insulation.
Has anyone ever done this? And if so how is it going?
As we are learning as we go any help or advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
SJ

Hi Sarah! Welcome to permies!

Over at Curbed, they wrote a nice article about living with a green roof, and it appears to be going well for them. And there is an awesome website out there dedicated to everything living roofs.

This is how Jeremy Thompson made his green roof for a shipping container house:

This is an impressive green roof at Moore Farms:

A little more on how other people are working with their green roofs:

You're welcome, Sarah! I don't yet have personal experience with living roofs, but I was hoping other people's experiences posted on YouTube might work!

And please keep us up to date on what you choose to do with living roofs! We'd love to see your work!

What a show! What atmosphere! What fun! What a tiny ad!
