I'm not sure what the best route would be to try to ask for financial help, ie donations. A neighbor of mine posted on Facebook and received materials for a construction project he's doing. I have no understanding of how he was able to get people to give him money to work on his property, especially since everybody out here is trying to work on their property. I just don't have a clue why anybody would give money to someone else. Maybe someone who's done this already and has some experience with fundraising can enlighten me?

Ever since I got my PCD, the model is to host workshops on your property and have people pay you to help develop your land. They learn by doing which is a value to them and you get the benefit of free help.
I'd like to do this on my property. I'd like to host them regularly throughout the year once I get up and running. I'd like to make my site a place for education in addition to the demonstration project it has been for the last 3 years. I think it's a unique opportunity because there's a lot of tourism in my area and it's also a desert which is perfect for showing what permaculture can do.
I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on hosting my first workshop? What are the requirements if any, other than the obvious - projects needing help, a plan for feeding participants, camping sites for them, etc?

I've been here full time for three years now. I'm fully off grid. And doing it all alone. It's pretty easy if you've got your ducks in a row, i.e. power, water, and shade.
I plant trees each Fall and have pecan, pear, apple, pine, mesquite, acacia, crape myrtle, and several others. I've had a number  of perennials and shrubs for a couple years now, too. The added shade and wind break will help the plants. Just getting in a garden wall now to keep out the javelinas and occasional rattlesnake.
The community is active if you can avoid the baddies here. Land is cheap and consistent tourism allows anyone with initiative and elbow grease to earn income from the land. I recommend west Texas if you're strong and want peace and survivability.

Hi! I’m doing some market research for a new product I’m creating. I’m looking to talk to permaculture enthusiasts who want to learn how to put all the principles and skills to use in transforming their own property instead of paying to help someone else build their dream. If this is you or you know someone who is, send me a DM, and I’ll follow up with you to schedule a 15-minute session. Looking forward to it! Jadene

As I was saying, I have Waterboxxes, buried clay pots, and I also have wicks as well as hose-irrigation and swales available to water the trees.
