Ever since I got my PCD, the model is to host workshops on your property and have people pay you to help develop your land. They learn by doing which is a value to them and you get the benefit of free help.
I'd like to do this on my property. I'd like to host them regularly throughout the year once I get up and running. I'd like to make my site a place for education in addition to the demonstration project it has been for the last 3 years. I think it's a unique opportunity because there's a lot of tourism in my area and it's also a desert which is perfect for showing what permaculture can do.
I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on hosting my first workshop? What are the requirements if any, other than the obvious - projects needing help, a plan for feeding participants, camping sites for them, etc?

When I used to do these, I was also involved with the state organic growers' association and had made connections with organic farmers' markets; and so I advertised the workshops through those channels.  But I had way more participation by going to a large city and teaching the workshop there (usually at some kind of community garden space where there were design and hands-on opportunities) than I ever did trying to host a workshop at my remote rural site.  So the workshops never did yield the side benefit of work on my site.  For that I set up an internship program, where people would come stay for several weeks to months at a time.

It sure was nice of your sister to lend us her car. Let's show our appreciation by sharing this tiny ad:
