Happy Birthday Permies! I'm so glad to have found this site while roaming the internet. Its a nice social media site, with benefits. Looking forward to many years of Permies! 🎂
I have found, while using AI image generator, that there are a great many things which AI does not know, such as the definition of a tomboy. Also AI, when asked for a picture of a beaver trapper walking through a river, you will get a man carrying traps surrounded by his very own beaver army, faithfully trailing after him.  If you ask for a picture of a man walking out of a cabin with his chocolate lab to go pheasant hunting, that man and dog will be surrounded by a faithful following of pheasants. It is safe to say, AI does not know what a hunter actually does. These are just a few examples of countless problems I experienced using AI. I'm sure people would say that I just asked the questions incorrectly, and while that may be true, it is only due to the fact that AI is still so literal in its interpretations,

I would have to know your definition of "safe". Lye, the 100% lye kind,  is a very good drain cleaner. It is natural. I use it to make soap (hand soap, body soap, shampoo bars). Lye has been around since the dark ages of time. The only thing unsafe about it is the fact that it is caustic, meaning, don't get it on your skin, as there will be a reaction. In fact don't get it on your counters or floors either. Once it gets into contact with water, it gets very hot. It is the same reaction that happens when I make soap. It is perfectly safe though - it is not like a chemical that is harmful to the environment. So yes, it is unsafe to skin. But no, it will not hurt the environment. Hope this helps.

Last year mine turned yellow. I was told that my compost was still too green. Another family member planted into a straw bale and had success.

I read Stephen King's 'IT' once, and it gave me nightmares for like 10 years. (I am actually not sure how long the nightmares lasted, but it seemed like ten years.)  I will never look at clowns the same.

I think your chick looks alright. I would just keep an eye on her. I think there would be more of a risk for prolapse when they are older.

I had never even thought of that! Good of you to think of such things.

I stopped drinking soda years ago. If I get an urge for something fizzy I go to the local Kwik Trip and buy a Kombucha. It comes in a dark glass bottle that I reuse for medicinal tinctures. I would call that a win.

Nightmares can be caused by over-the-counter meds, like allergy and sinus meds, so be aware of that.  You are on a good path if you are looking into calming herbs. One of my favorites is lemonbalm, which I like to put into hot water with honey as a tea. Anxiety can be overwhelming sometimes. In my younger years, I had anxiety very bad. Now that I have gotten older, and my hormones have changed, I no longer have anxiety. Therefore, I think that hormones may have some play in the world of anxiety. Eat clean foods, and do some research on herbs for hormones, that may help anxiety. I am sorry I don't have a perfect answer on this for you.

We’re still figuring out go-to meals and how to make things feel “normal” while keeping everything balanced. If anyone has favorite recipes that don’t feel like “diet food” but work well for blood sugar control, I’d love to hear them! Also, any insights on handling cravings while transitioning to lower-carb eating? That’s been one of the tougher parts.

This week I discovered the best hot cocoa that will make your mom feel uber normal if she is having chocolate cravings:

1 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbsp honey (or a little more if you like it sweeter)
1 Tbsp butter
1/4 tsp vanilla
Add one cup very hot water

Three weeks ago my family member's oxygen level in his lungs was in the low 80s, he was wearing supplemental oxygen constantly, and the doctor told him to just get used to it, that he wasn't going to improve and that he would be on oxygen the rest of his life.

Fast forward to today. After 3 weeks on codonopsis and astragalus, the oxygen readings are as high as 98!!! and that is without having supplemental oxygen on for the entire day. He only wears oxygen at night now. (He is not even sure if he would need to.) The readings are so good now.

There is so much to be said for taking your health into your own hands. It definitely takes a ton of research. It takes baby steps to get where you need to be. Buying master herbalist Judson Carroll's ebook is a step in the right direction. (Thanks Judson!)  At the end of the day, what does a doctor care whether or not you are cured? There is no benefit to a doctor if he cures someone.  Have you ever seen a published scoreboard of doctors who have cured different people of different maladies? No. Sometimes you are the best person for the job, as you have skin in the game... literally. I encourage everyone to look into the wonders of herbal medicine. You can grow it yourself, always have a supply when you need it, and you won't have to pay $250 - $1000 for the doctor appointment to get it.

If you don't have the skills or the know-how, get to know a master herbalist today... one who can guide you and get you started on your journey to better health.
