in the homesteading bundle the items i was planning to dig into first are: cook what you have, the edible landscaping chapter,  the pebble rocket mass heater i thinking this will be my first rocket stove project but the canning stove looks like a quick and easy initiation to the concept.
good to know i had very specific  items in the bundle i was most looking forward too.  now i know to be patient.
welp paypal made me open an account but they gave me $20 towards the purchase!!!   then when i went looking for the content ha pretended to purchase something and there was all my other payment options ha ha paypal not cool with that deceptive screen but thanks for the $20.  discovered the content will be available in a few days looking forward to that.

garden goals for 2023.
get some raised beds going, grow food i want to eat.
grow some grain like millet or amaranth (pig weed grows really well)  i had a lot of sorghum volunteers this last season was surprised by the excellent growth and production.
2022 i embraced the volunteer garden due to past failures, plant it and it dont grow but will try to love the ones i didn't plant that did grow?  self seeded cherry tomatoes don't care for them but seems i will learn as they grow on their own and produce abundantly.   big plus was an abundance of watermelon but they did not ripen as sweetly as i desired so maybe try a short season melon, and be a meaner to the little watermelon babies that do come.
so looks like i will try a bit of organization with the plants that will grow,  and try try try again for salad greens.
push towards  getting a cold season garden going as summer winds down.

i love this thread, sitting in front of the fire thinking about what to grow this coming season and trying to figure a way to grow the stuff i use daily, plus the ongoing effort to change my diet to a more sustainable healthwise practice.  thanks for this thoughtful thread even thou some is older posts, still valuable info.  i feel i am always late to the party.

sunroots still in the ground i did hack down the stems but have't cracked the ground.  never cared for their taste but a beautiful flower and makes a nice screen.  i did produce sweet potatoes but they tasted awful like awful awful. shocking failure and after finally getting a crop it is awful!  so disappointed    I love sweet potatoes.

i still have carrots and potatoes to dig  will but what i really want is greens... tender leafy greens crisp lettuce!   been toying with growing micro greens in the house.  been looking for garbage to repurpose into growing trays.  trying to figure how to produce soil to bring into house that is not crawling with life.  I hate for my earthworms and rolly bugs to get lost in the house.

think i need to plan the fall planting of cold hardy crops.   been thinking need to develop a cold frame growing effort.  i love kale but really must be more than just kale for cold growing?

i have amazing sweet corn in the freezer that i timed out on, loved it but the glut curbed my appetite, no glut now but still no desire to eat it perhaps i will thaw and slice off cob into a stew.

i have little taste for canned,  fresh and nearly raw is my prefered version of my veggie centric diet

i feel so wealthy with a lemon and lime trees roosting for the winter in my garage loaded with pick at will fruit.

i have scrounged firebrick, vent tubing and a barrel i want to  begin building my first rocket stove to warm a little greenhouse.  with a heated bench i think i could start my own tomato plants.
