About this Video Series "From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns."
The folks behind the consumption model were the same folks who invented and popularized the concept of the nuclear family - if every couple (and their children) needed a house, then they'd also need a dishwasher, a toaster, a car - it would maximize consumption. "Leave it to Beaver" and such-like TV shows were used to promote the concept.
