Summary
Building the PEP animal care badge curriculum is time consuming and difficult. Want to reward the people who do it properly but make it difficult to cheat. 135 BBs in animal care so far, and counting. Needs to be photograph-able, impress OTIS, and fit values.
Straw badge is doable for vegans. Exceeds vegan standards - symbiotic, caring relationship with animals, including wild animals and in an urban situation.
Sand badge - complete five of the 48 options. ~5 hours.
Straw badge - 35 points required. Can do up to 15 new points from the sand badge. Long list of BBs, 77, some are required. Most are 4 to six points each. Prove that something works. ~5 days.
Wood badge - 180 points required. ~5 weeks. some from previous lists.
Iron badge - 5 to 6 months of
experience. probably spread out over two or more years. one very rich
BB. Minimum number of species, harvest certain number of calories, and quality of life has to be high. Prove like a thesis. Gotta impress Otis...
Otises have come forward. Idea that maybe the first person that gets PEP2 certification may be able to inherit from an Otis. May even have to choose from around 20. This will help get the whole thing moving. Could be do-able in about three months, then could inherit a property. Each Otis might have different criteria and would choose the PEPer themselves from those best qualified. Wasn't time to get this program set up in time for
Mike Oehler, and that became the foundation for this program. Program is still being defined. Have to stop to get stuff out now. Add more later. Sometimes new things are worked in. Multiple paths within, including vegan ones. Allows for rookies to get their feet wet.
