This was a great workshop to do from your own home! Austin gave a very informative and interactive class on sourdough bread making. It was not just “this is what you do”, but he also explained why it is being done. This class was well organized and I came away with a better understanding of the bigger picture of this craft. I am looking forward to using what I learned to explore sourdough bread making as well as other uses for my starter mix. --Giulietta

Actual loaves baked by students who took the virtual workshop:

The interactive presentation was very well-organized and well-paced, and on a cold, rainy day in January, taking a breadmaking class in my own kitchen was perfect. I had taken an in-person kombucha class with Austin a couple years back, and the virtual sourdough class was just as well done, if not better.-- Ellen

What are our Virtual Do-it-Together workshops like?

Our live virtual workshops are the next best thing to learning in person! We teach you about food fermentation, demonstrate a particular food tradition, and then we make it together, all from the comfort of your own kitchen.  The instructor will inspect your creation to help give you confidence that your ferment will be successful and delicious!
  • LEARN: We'll explain fermentation and have a brief discussion about all the benefits of making and eating fermenting foods
  • DEMO: We'll show you how to make fermented foods
  • DO IT TOGETHER: Roll up your sleeves and follow along as we go through making and packing a jar of to-be fermented food

  • "Austin is a great teacher! He’s very personable and attentive. The class was very casual in terms of asking questions during the session. He walked through every step which really added to the learning experience. I would highly recommend taking this class or any other with Austin. And every day I watch my cabbage, carrots and radish, turn into kimchi!" -- Gina

With multiple angles and views so you can see what we're making close up, it's like you're on a live cooking show! (from miso workshop)

We take you through the basics of fermented foods, with a comprehensive multimedia experience.
