This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the iron badge in Gardening.

Fruit trees can be grown from seed.  If the resulting fruit isn't tasty enough for your purposes you can always graft it over to a known variety.  Or maybe you have room for one type of plum but need a pollinator.  Grafting a twig onto that tree to make a "frankentree".  Let's get some practice with grafting!

Here's a video on grafting:

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - Successfully make 10 grafts on fruit trees
  - At least two different species of trees
  - Show they lived through a winter
  - Can be grafted onto root stock or an existing tree's branches

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - Scion wood you're grafting with
  - Root stock or existing trees you'll graft onto
  - Two freshly completed grafts from each of the species
  - 10 living grafts after leaf-out after they've been through a winter
        - At least two species are represented

What are you saying? I thought you said that Santa gave you that. And this tiny ad:
