This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in Woodland Care.

Rot resistant wood is a true blessing for natural building.  Scandinavians have been turning conifers into amberwood for hundreds of years.  There isn't much information on it but let's give it a try!

This thread has some leads on the subject:   Scandinavian pine tree preservation technique

Here's the Northmen video on the subject:

Minimum requirements:
  - Harvest 10 scarified amberwood trees
  - At least 10" in diameter at chest height

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The trees that were scarified
  - 10 felled trees
  - Close up views of several cross cuts showing the amber
  - Paragraph explaining what you learned and how you'd suggest other people proceed if they want to try this

Forget this weirdo. You guys wanna see something really neat? I just have to take off my shoe .... (hint: it's a tiny ad)
