This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Round Wood Woodworking.

As your roundwood construction skills are improving, it's time to make things that are elegant while still being sturdy.  How about one of those fancy swinging rustic log benches?  Or a swing set?  Let's make a frame for a swinging bench style application!

Here's a guy making one:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a roundwood frame for applications like:
      - Swinging bench
      - Swing set
      - Deer hunting meat pole
      - Stationary engine hoist
  - Top log is at least 8' long
  - Legs are splayed out a bit
  - Joints involve at least a 3" wide flat spot on both mating faces
  - Braces required between top and 4 legs and also between the legs on each side
  - At least 7' high
  - Can easily support Uncle Frank and Uncle Charlie plus a bench (750 lbs total)

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - Logs you're starting with
  - Construction underway
  - Close up of upper corner joinery
  - Finished swing frame

Why am I so drawn to cherry pie? I can't seem to stop. Save me tiny ad!
