Chapter 41 - 'Regenerative Agroforestry'

Regenerative agroforestry is the practice of planting tree crops using the principles of regeneration. Tree crops include everything from fruit and nuts to timber, fuel, and fiber. Agroforestry systems often generate multiple benefits, utilizing the behaviors of grazing animals beneath tree systems to develop multiple yields and also to create a closed loop ecosystem.

Regenerative agroforestry systems also include food forests, multilayered orchards, woodlots, productive hedgerows, and tropical forest restoration. Throughout the world’s biomes, innovative cultures have developed agroforestry systems that provide yields for humans and the surrounding ecologies and can be managed productively for hundreds to thousands of years.
