The following template can be used to add entries to the database:

    |video link|video duration|thread link|channel/creator|brief description|year video created||

The whole template represents one line of the table (one entry).
Each “|...|” represents one box and its contents.

How to use the template and add entries to the database
  • Click the “…” button at the upper right corner of the wiki post.
  • Click the now-revealed “edit” button.
  • Copy the template.
  • Paste the template wherever you want your new entry to appear. Make sure it's always after a "||".
  • Replace the text between each “| |” with the relevant information from your new entry for that column. (Use the “URL” button in the editor to create hyperlinks for the thread and video links.)
  • Click “Preview” at the bottom of the editor to proofread the new entry.
  • Click “Submit” when you’re happy with the preview, and you’re done!

Could mention be made in the comments which videos are being added as time goes on? As a subscriber to the thread, we only see that something has been edited, but no indication on specific changes...

Thank you for your efforts on this, I've already found one new to me video that is invaluable to my current projects...

Good to know this is proving useful! And I think that's an excellent idea.
If I may piggyback on it a bit -
it's possible* to put an indicator right in the table for new entries.
*possible, as long as it doesn't add too much time or complication to the process

It might look something like this:

rocket stove mass heater (YouTube)2:24Using pryrex in a RMH?iendhtj kiendfirst burning of a rocket mass heater2009
NEWPellet Feeder for Rocket Heater - New & Better Design (YouTube)6:01Rocket Mass Heater with aquaponics pondBigelow Brook Farm (Web4Deb)updates to RMH for aquaponics system2013
wood stove vs. rocket mass heater (YouTube)1:21rocket mass heater uses less wood than a wood stovepaul wheatonErnie Wisner compares RMH to wood stove2010

Would that be less helpful, just as helpful, or more helpful than in the comments?

Again - just exploring the idea; no commitment to it yet.
    Thanks for the feedback!

Ideally I'd say a column with "date added" would take care of it particularly if the table were sortable. Wikipedia pages have that sortability function, but I don't know how much trouble it would be for code ranch to implement here.

Having a "new" label like you mention would help if old ones were erased as new ones were added, but there might be trouble passing along that practice as time goes on and if third parties step in to help with this wiki.

Yep - that's the extra bit that I'm not sure I have the time/energy to commit to, plus

but there might be trouble passing along that practice as time goes on and if third parties step in to help with this wiki.

this - I wouldn't want to narrow the pool of potential contributors by adding layers of complication to the process.

I think putting an indicator right in the table is kind of elegant (for someone scrolling through it at least), but adding a post does the job most simply (especially for someone who's already watching the thread).
