There are many causes of cancer. Viruses, genetic mutations, certain types of irritants or harmful chemicals, toxins/poisons, or simply due to chance, etc. Many, many possible causes. But flukes are generally not one of them.

How do we know this for sure though?

In any case, parasites weaken the body in general and any weakening or stress on the system contributes to over all poor health and is an invitation to dis-ease. Attending to one's general health goes a very long way IMHO.

I think that flukes could probably contribute to some cancers.  to say that they are the cause of cancer is almost certainly a gross overstatement, but it seems relatively plausible that they could occasionally play a role.

My view has changed significantly on this recently. Formerly, I considered parasites as little suckers that just drained people dry, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly

But... in the last year my views have change a bit on that. There are a lot of parasites which have been shown to have immunomodulatory affects. Basically, there are a lot of critters (whether microorganisms or larger) which are dependent on their hosts for survival. They have developed "skills" of influencing the immune system so that it 1) doesn't destroy them and 2) to promote the health of their host. Sometimes, what I have considered in the past to be a all take and no give parasitic situation, could potentially be a symbiotic relationship. I'm not saying that all parasites are good and an overabundance of anything can impair health, but this is a fascinating "new" area of science research.

Here are a couple of easy to read links as an introduction to the concept:

http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jbb/2010/743758.html

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17544832

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16202576

my eyes are opened (well a bit)!

Also found some research studies regarding cancer and flukes/helminths. Again, I think there are multiple types of cancers and multiple triggers and influences which lead to expression, exacerbation and remission, but that's just my personal opinion.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18063098

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19825108

But then we also know that virus's cause cancer... here's a little article regarding cervical/head/neck cancer caused by HPV (not associated with helminths):

cant believe i only just now found this thread! I saw "Food Matters" a few weeks back. (it is on netflix, if you like that sort of thing) AMAZING, and learned about Gerson therapy.

I am convinced the FDA and big Pharma are the reason we do not and will not have a "legal" cure for cancer in the USA.

I am curious to hear anyone's thoughts on this film and the work of Dr. Max Gerson.

Also, I found this video about it...

This topic is covered a bit in podcast 017

This podcast covers a LOT of different topics!

As mentioned at the beginning of the podcast: email signup.

We start off reviewing the movie "Food Matters".  The premise is that many diseases can be resolved by food choices.  And this has been discussed several times at the forums.  A good start is my thread on eliminating medication with polyculture; and the thread about beating  cancer

We talk about raw food; local food; the missoula urban demonstration project; composting toilets; outhouse; urine diversion; women peeing outdoors; hugelkultur; rain barrels; greywater; commercial compost; art ludwig; pee powered cars; jean pain technique; poop beasts.

A Naturopath/MD who is a cancer specialist told me that in nearly every case of cancer, there are parasites in the blood.  They are not easily detected in normal lab work, but can be seen under dark field microscopy under high magnification.  It is not known whether the parasites are there because the immune system is down, or that they may have contributed to the cancer.
From what I've studied in Naturopathic medicine, we can get parasites any time our HCL acid is low, or our immune system is compromised.  They are in the soil, esp. rabbit fluke, and sometimes eggs float in the air and we breath them in, such as in a dusty barn.  Most parasite species are species specific but not all.  People can get rabbit fluke and so can other animals.  My husband and I routinely do the wormwood/black walnut parasite cleanse couple of times a year.  You can make your own by dropping immature green black walnuts (pick from the tree), into Everclear or other grain alcohol just until covered.  Mix in a little wormwood in between the hulls, so you have some of each in the jar.  It helps fill up the spaces.  Set in a dark place 10 days, shaking slightly daily.  Leave the 10 days or longer and pour off the alcohol into containers, at which time it is ready to use.  We take a few drops starting out and work up to 1/2 tsp. for two weeks.  Every time I've been tested before I started doing that, I had parasites.  But then, my immune system was compromised by pesticide poisoning in an office I worked in, and I've always had low HCL which can make one more susceptible, and I've traveled a lot outside of the country and drank the water in questionable places because there was nothing else available.

From studies I've done, there are supposed to be over 2000 plants growing in the rain forest that the indigenous people there believe cure cancer.  Anecdotal, to be sure, but what are the people of this world doing, destroying this wonderful eco-system of healing plants?  We live on such a beautiful planet, it brings tears to my eyes to think of what has been done to it.  But I'm full of hope watching what some are doing to restore some of these devastated areas.  This earth can be healed and so can the people living on it.

Personally, I don't believe cancer is an illness that can be cured with only one or two remedies or natural cures.  It takes that and more.  It takes a major lifestyle change, not only in diet, but in attitude.   Keep the emotions positive and the immune system immediately goes up.  I've watched friends and family members die from it, and I've also seen dozens that have cured themselves with natural means.  An acid state of the physical body contribues to many, many illnesses. and creates a lot of pain in the body.  According to my school books, stress makes your saliva become toxic and your body acid.  To help flush out the toxic saliva and wash out the acid, you can sip on water with lemon juice added (fresh is best), all day.  The lemon is just slightly more alkaline than plain water.  Lemon does not act like other citrus juices in the body.

I'm disinclined to accept the notion that it's parasites. We filter our water and wash our hands on cook our food and wear shoes these days, and I think that together that cuts off most of the routes for parasite entry. Additionally we do PCR and RT-PCR on blood which tells us every single organism of earth origin within the sample, and parasites are pretty rare in say the PNW but I think that cancer is not appreciably lower.

I agree on it being a shame that the forest are being destroyed, sadly I think people hunting for "medicinal" herbs is a significant portion of the problem. If we found one that reliably stopped a common kind of cancer it would be extinct within a decade I'm sure.

In the "developed" world (whatever that means), parasites are generally not a concern due to improvements in water chlorination, sanitation, hygiene, and medicine, yet the rates of cancer keep rising. I think this should help redirect our attention to other concerns and causes.

I too watched the documentaries about the Gearson Therapy and it is nothing short of miraculous.  She is continuing her fathers therapies (he cured her when she was 12 of bone cancer), but the sad thing is she has to have her clinic in Mexico because it is illegal to treat cancer in the United States with anything other than chemo, drugs and surgery.  I am just shocked that there is a LAW for that.

I just don't know about the coffee enemas.  If I had cancer, then you gotta do but you gotta do, but wow, that is weird sounding.

It might be reasoned that certain parasites are reduced while others increase because certain parasitic disease carrying animals thrive in modern urban areas (raccoons, rats, other rodents), increasing the chance of being exposed. chlorination causes some issues while solving others. Same with sanitation, hygiene, medicine, etc. The food chain is massive, easily effecting millions when an issue occurs. The list goes on.

I do agree cancers continue to rise. I do not think there is any one cause.

The freedom country, give me liberty or give me death? Oh, now I get it.

Is it illegal to treat the individual instead? Semantics? (like the guy who is legally selling (the now banned in some countries) incandescent lightbulbs as personal heaters (which they are). They just happen to provide a bit of light too ) Semantics.

The thing is that parasites (in this biologists estimation) ought to have a life cycle. The parasites that we are "seeing" "increase" infection rates from have no life cycle, so they are probably something else misidentified as a parasite. Chlorination may have drawbacks, but one of them isn't increasing parasite loads in the water. Same thing with hand washing and eating cooked food and wearing shoes.

The one kind of parasite that does really increase with exposure to the mammals that do well in cities (in this biologists opinion) are ectoparasites, like ticks and fleas, but those you can actually see and address. I was diagnosed with parasites by our naturopath when I was younger, for a problem that I just recently had diagnosed properly and fixed after years of discomfort, parasites were never the issue.

Naturopaths "diagnose" parasites all the time, but I rarely hear about them doing the sorts of things that biologists do to find and study parasites in animals, even non invasive ones like testing the blood for anti-parasitic antibodies or doing a stool smear.

Emerson, agree that directly, many of those things do not increase parasites, as they kill and eliminate them. Not sure the longterm outcome is not worse, given the methods used and they effect the dynamics. Similar to pesticides and plants.

on a more specific point, raccoons in the wild, just a few per square mile. Raccoons in urban areas can be in the hundreds per square mile. Raccoons carry diseases. Raccoon feces carry diseases. Raccoons rare in the wild. Raccoons are rampant and rife in urban areas.

and you get raccoon roundworm parasite (baylisascaris procyonis).

People setup the conditions for a potential disease carrying species to procreate like crazy and increase the chances for them getting the disease, and then spreading it to people. Lots of people may get parasites like this one and not know they have it (thinking it's a cold or virus) and it takes its course. it may not kill them today, but maybe it does give them cancer or increase their chances down the road.

To all the urban dwellers, quit feeding the wild animals. It could save your life.

You can, but most of us cook the things we ingest from the urban environment. The raccoon roundworm causes a specific disease that we can diagnose and treat, they aren't hiding in virtually everyone causing cancer, and you don't carry them for years and years after infection either. Raccoons are way up but other vectors are way down.

When I was working in an MD's office and seeing all the lab work coming in, I was amazed at the number who tested positive for parasites with stool culture.  He only ordered that type of labwork when the person had some chronic condition (usually of the gut).  The work was sent to Great Smokies Labs.  Most of those patients were middle to upper middle class and many of them had traveled to various countries which may have been the way they were exposed.  With stool culture, it was amazing how many were positive for various amoeba or ascaris.  In an opthamologist's office I worked in, some patients had scarring on the retina from toxoplasmosis.
Some of them were blinded by it.  Not all of them had cats or birds, but many did.  An RN who was an OR technician and assisted in open heart surgery told me some people even had heartworms which had to be suctioned out as they were doing heart surgery.  She said most people thought people could not get heartworms.  She felt that people were getting parasites sometimes indirectly through their pets, maybe a flea bite or from a dog licking them in the mouth.  It always turns my stomach when I see someone letting their pet do that.  People  need to make sure their pets are parasite free, especially if living in the house with them, and even more so if they have small children.

It is my understanding that parasites have a specific life cycle and you don't usually get them in that way, as they live part of their life cycle in another host or sometimes in the soil until they hatch into another form.  One physician (MD) told me pets can sometimes have the eggs in their saliva.  I don't know if any of this is true, merely relaying what I've heard.  I don't think any doctor should just say someone has parasites.  If they suspect it, then they should do the appropriate lab work.  Often though, it is easier to just take something for it than doing the very expensive lab work.  Then you'll never know for sure just what it was.

When a person has normal amounts of HCL, the saliva kills most parasite larvae if it is swallowed; however, when the person is not producing enough, as happens sometimes when one is not well and the immune system is compromised, there is a window of opportunity for parasitic infection if one is exposed.  Parasite larvae such as beef tapeworm or trichinosis can be in the muscle tissue of certain animals used as food sources, such as beef or pork, and when eaten rare cooked, can be ingested and still viable.  Fish can also carry parasites, which is why it is a tradition to eat raw fish with ginger or something pickled in most cultures.  This helps kill any parasite larvae.  This information is from Dr. Lieberman, who is an MD in South Carolina who specializes in environmental exposure.  It is my understanding that trichinosis is not found frequently in North American pork, but still is a problem in some third world countries.  They also told me there when I was being treated for pesticide poisoning, that exposure to certain chemicals provides a perfect environment for certain parasites, so if you get exposed to them, they can be opportunistic.

I agree that cancer is probably not caused by any one thing, it is a combination, or many things.
It certainly has become too common in today's world.  I believe that a change in lifestyle, and the way we grow food and the quality of the air we breath and the water we drink can greatly minimize risk.  Things need to come back into better balance.

Some things jumped out at me

He only ordered that type of labwork when the person had some chronic condition (usually of the gut)

many of them had traveled to various countries

I would totally believe that most of those would come back positive, I'd expect it even.

There are many different parasites with many different lifecycles, to my knowledge there aren't any that put eggs out the front end of a warm blooded animal but your pet can eat something dead and then lick you, that is why I don't let dogs lick me (not parasites, but gross!).

It is my understanding that trichinosis is not found frequently in North American pork

It's not found often in factory farmed pigs but it is in pigs raised in what we would call an acceptable manner. Pigs will interact with rats and raccoons and other mammals and pick it up off of them, the factory farmed pigs live on concrete and don't get exposed to other animals.

As to cancer being too common, I suspect that the primary reason we see so much more of it now than we did 300 years ago (or in China and India 70 years ago) is that we have more than doubled our lifespan. With a few exceptions most cancers tend to show up in predominantly elderly populations. We aren't dying of abscessed teeth and measles and cholera and smallpox and staph infections any more (well not often) so we live long enough to get cancer.

I don't think that the increase in cancer is due to the increase in life span, since lots of people who are not elderly get cancer nowadays. I think it is due to a some relatively recent things.

1. The use of coal-tar and other synthetic dyes in clothing. These dyes are carcinogenic and only came into use in the late 19th century. This stuff is being absorbed by our skin 24/7.

2. The use of synthetic aromatic chemicals not only in perfumes but in all kinds of household and personal products, even sprayed onto textiles. I have only to point, for instance, to synthetic musks as an example. These endocrine disruptors presently pave the bottoms of the great lakes and are found in mothers' milk in North America. And once again, synthetic musks and synthetic aromatics are relatively recent of invention and are, like the coal-tar dyes, ubiquitous.

3. The use of synthetic ferts and pesticides which, whether they remain in our food or not, wash into our water. Where I live, atrazine is a ubiquitous element of water coming from the tap. Even if you filter your water something that removes it (difficult), you still shower in it and wash your clothes in it. Again, these chemicals were not in use until the late 19th century/early 20th.

Parasites are pretty small potatoes in comparison to synthetic dyes, synthetic aromatics, and synthetic ferts and pesticidees.

Lots of people who aren't elderly have always gotten cancer. I had to great great great grand uncles (un related to each other) who died from cancer back in the late 1800's at the ages of 10 and 12. Has anyone bothered to look up the disease prevalence figures?

Paul, thank you for posting this. I have only read page one of the replies so I don't know which direction this thread has taken - I just want to speak to the alkaline diet issue:

I have tried the alkaline diet for other issues and it worked amazingly well. I just don't have adequate words for how much better I felt - it was a good demonstration to me on what if feels like to be really healthy rather than just ‘not sick’.

Problem 1: It is REALLY REALLY hard to stick to.
Problem 2: We humans are not smart about what we shove in our mouths. (which may be the same as problem 1)

As I write this I just finished eating a large wheat filled sugar frosted cinnamon roll. This will come back to haunt me for at least two weeks on different physical levels.

But back to “Alkaline Diet Cure”. I really do not understand why people are not willing to try things that cannot harm them – but would rather take a chance on things that are proven to have bad side effects – even when they are not working.

I know of a lady right now that is dying a very slow painful death. She called me because she was told that I dabble in food and herbal cures. Chemo has not worked, surgeries have not worked, she is desperate. As we talked she told me she had done a lot of research about this and she already knew about all of the foods and herbs I use. ****But she had not altered her diet in any way****. She said it was too difficult. Huh? I’m not sure why she called me then unless she just wanted to talk to someone.

The other strange one that I don’t get is people who run angrily towards treatments like this for the sole purpose of bashing and trashing them. If the treatment does not cause harm – doesn’t that follow the OLD physician oath of ‘first do no harm’? And so what if people want to try eating a healthy diet when they are sick – they are not hurting anyone so how about letting them eat healthy?

Jeanine,

People have been trained through all of school and, now, from their families to refer to thoughts not part of "the system" as crazy. And to stand up and fight against "crazy" for the safety of the innocent.

Paul I want to offer support for the better diet cures (or at least reduces) cancer. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer over 12 yrs ago, she still has it, but she is still alive off treatments for over two years. When she was first diagnosed she was told she had two weeks up to two months to live. She switched from her old diet (which was much healthier than most) to a diet to fight her cancer. Now the only meat she eats is chicken and turkey, lots of fruit, and only organic foods.

I'm not saying the heathy food deit cured my gma, but at the very least it gave her 12 more years to spend with her family. Paul, ignore the naysayers and keep doing the good things you do by spreading the truth!

I remember reading an article in Scientific American about cancer cells. They were these mutant cells with four or five times the normal number of chromosomes. I guess the normal gene sequences to limit cell division were often corrupted in bizarre ways. I was left with the impression that we all "have" cancer all of the time - and our body is continually getting rid of these mutant cells. The more healthy the immune system, the better able you are to get rid of the stuff - although there is always the probability that some mutation will get missed by the immune system and you'll need some sort of invasive intervention like chemo or radiation to kill it.

So my view is lots of exercise, eat yer veggies and you'll significantly reduce your risk of cancer - but despite all of this you can still get it. Pretty conventional but I think it makes sense.

I believe "flukes" are a real parasite. You can read more here:

Then there is the question of “Do you really have cancer?”.

My mother recently told me she read of a doctor who has been caught misdiagnosing several hundred cases of breast cancer – that were not really breast cancer and performing 700 lumpectomies that were not necessary. I don’t know how something like this is proven.

Here is my most recent jaw dropping experience:

I was told I had a blockage in my heart. The cardiologist recommended the standard surgery and start on ‘medicine’. I said that I was going to try certain diet and exercise program first.

My mother told me to INSIST on getting all of my medical records, reports and images. It was almost IMPOSSIBLE to get them to do this and I finally said I needed them for my military doctor but I wouldn’t give them the address to the clinic – they had to send them to me.
Three months later I finally get the records. Spend two days pouring over records and searching stuff that I don’t understand on the internet. Bottom line, according to these tests and reports – I don’t have a blockage -- never had a blockage.

But if I had had the surgery and was taking the medication I would be oh so grateful for modern medicine. Instead I am oh so grateful for a hardheaded mother who insists on researching everything to the inth degree. But what about those cases where you can’t get the research?

My husband had surgery on his back over 10 years ago from a construction accident. They told him there were pins in his spine and artificial disks. A new doctor recently insisted on either new imaging or seeing the images from the doctor that did the surgery.

The new doctor said he wasn’t interested in the report – he wanted to see the images himself…………………There are no pins, no artificial disks……………Ten years he has been living with this.

Never again will we have any procedure that we don’t end up with the actual results, lab slips, images in our hot little hands. As my mom says “we are customers, not patients, and we need to start demanding customer service”.

The book to read is "The Cure For All Cancers" by Hulda Regehr, Ph.D., N.D.

Eat Alkaline vs. Acid foods.

Consume Chlorophyll [a good source is Odwalla "SUPERFOOD"] you can get
it at Costco.

Take "Biotin" to lower yeast production.

Take Coenzyme Q 10

Take lots of "Vit. C" [a good source is "Emer-gen-C"] you can find it
at Trader Joe's

Take lots of calcium.

Cancer's "cause" I believe is due to a particular parasite (the
fluke).  This parasite
gives off a growth hormone during one of its growth stages.

The herbal cure that Dr. Hulda Regehr has discovered is:

  1.  Wormwood (liquid extract)
  2.  Black Walnut (liquid extract)
  3.  Red Clover (liquid extract)
  4.  Cloves (whole)
  5.  Dandelion (liquid extract)

These herbs destroy the parasite in each of its growth cycles

I would love to have more direction on this.

Any info on dosage? treatment beyond the first week? potential side effects of these herbs?

perhaps this is a situation of read the book?

theres a huge website and forum that discusses all this stuff in detail:

http://curezone.com/default.asp

http://curezone.com/clark/

http://curezone.com/clark/parasites.asp

http://curezone.com/clark/cancer.asp

she was not the first or only person to come to these ideas, or at least very similar ideas, but she is very well known for promoting them.

black walnut, wormwood, and cloves have been basically THE cure for parasites known about for a long time.
but she put it all together with some fasting, cleanse dieting, and a way overly simplified version of royal rifes work using a frequency generator.

==================================
i became very ill some years back, and didnt get a diagnoses, the doctors said they couldnt figure it out. not that i went to many, actually, but when i did they told me there wasnt anything seriously wrong with me. thats how i came to this stuff, and tried out a lot of these things.

i have done something along these lines several times, digestive system cleanses.
its not fun! but i really thinks it helps so much.
theres a lot of different ways to do this- one of the best is FASTING.
the herbs are good, but the fasting is more important, imo.

you should do several rounds, separated by breaks.
like 5 days on the herbs, 5 days off (maybe some different herbs or probiotics), and repeat.
then switch to a different set of herbs in a cycle. and really high doses of multiple vitamins........while you are doing cleanse diet/fasting

imo this is the best cure for just about anything, a long term fast.
ideally after several weeks/months of cleanse dieting- you work up to it for a while.
if you want to include the herbs..... the better it will be.
theres other stuff which addresses yeasts and fungal infections in the body.

if someone is very sick probably theres a number of things going on at once, yeasts and fungal infections are common with parasites, and etc. you dont have to know what they all are specifically- just work on the cleanse dieting/nutritional supplements /fasting/herbs should hopefully address all of them at once. or at least address certain parts of it, so you can better address the other issues.

many people think that cancer is a response to a fungal/yeast infection, or at least some cancers, misdiagnosed or not.
so starving it out of your body is the way to get rid of it, or get it managable....and that long term cleanse dieting is the sure slow way to get your body into better balance.

also after you fast to start adding foods into your diet slowly when you start eating.
to note what problem foods are in your diet, because its individual...some people do fine on certain foods that others cant handle.
i think that all these herbs are fairly safe, clove is very good (and should be continued for a longer time), but that fasting is the best way.

the side effects of the herbs is hard to separate from the detox reactions. wormwood and black walnut are both very strong, but i think in small amounts they are beneficial. black walnut is also used for fungal/yeast issues.
there are also some theraputic baths with epsom salts, or baking soda, some people talk about baking soda and molasses as a cure, some apple juice or apple vinegar cleanses.... bathing in baking soda is something that even the mainstream medical peeps recommend.

something that people dont always know, being used allopathic medicine which is more like take a pill--->>>feel better quickly (while unfortunately masking the root causes and sort of covering over the real issues) is that when these treatments start working you feel worse.
a LOT worse because of the detox. its like it...all comes out to the surface and becomes really loud once you start addressing it. making it harder to stick with it. then one usually goes through a high and energetic *i feel great* phase if they are sticking with it...but then usually back to other detox phases of feeling bad.

i am reluctant to agree a week is a good realistic time frame to deal with any kind of serious illness, regardless of what its called, or if its misdiagnosed. hey, its possible, perhaps possible to heal in an instant maybe. but better way to approach it is to change your habits for the long term.

i am not sure i would agree or disagree actually with these ideas, or hulda clarks ideas. i just do not know. i think its possible.
i think theres many misdiagnoses, and theres often over lapping conditions.
i also think mostly everyone has a lot of nutritional deficiencies, bad diets, stressful lives, yeast over growth, problems from antibiotic use, and acidic diets-
and this is a good place to start anyway, if you are trying to heal.

^^^^^^
maybe not the best reference there for royal rife. well that is the basic story though that article is a bit ...ummm something ?!!?

he was, for sure, a genius.
he also discovered cancer, was the first to see it on his microscope, which allowed him to see living viruses and such.
then later cured it with his technique, and then was discredited, had his lab ruined, papers stolen, sued, etc etc....

i like the study that says ONE case of food poisioning doubles your chance of cancer. still havn't seen if it was because of the antibiotics given. seems like someone would study the drug of choice given with that.

So, the latest ATS story put up this study of injectable Vit C. 2006
