It is finally nice and warm here in my 5b neighbourhood..

Flowers are coming up! I have a few new wildflowers that have crept into my back garden this year.  I also planted alliums last autumn, and the few the voles didnt eat have blossomed into awesome puffballs.

Post all your flowers, be they wildflowers, naturalized flowers, or your cherished ornamentals! I know there seems to be a general push for "useful" plantings only but even purely ornamental flowers can be quite useful, in my opinion. We all could use some cheer, and gorgeous colourful flowers are so cheerful! :D

These grow wild in my area, although I don"t keep em around just for the flowers.

The big glut of Spring color is past here in NC but here are a few photos. The Jasmin is potted on the porch.  In the morning when I open the door to air out the house the fragrance fills the house.  Love when my Peace Lily blooms. When it's open all is calm here. This hydrangea was a tiny sickly thing 5 years ago. Now it blooms all Summer in October.

All of these are so beautiful!!! And most of them are very exotic. I had no idea what a sweet potato plant looked like, those flowers are gorgeous!

I have some more. When we moved in I had three raggedy purple columbines ( standard European-imported Aquilegia vulgaris) and I have been trying to encourage them to cross among themselves and with the wild columbines (smaller, reddy coloured, more elongated flowers. Aquilegia canadensis) which i found in the wooded area at the back of my fence.

Four years on and this years bloomed have revealed some beautiful hybrids. :D :D :D I am so enamoured with them.

Penstemon digitalis or foxglove beardtoungue are in full bloom here in ozarks. Honey bees and bumblebees are all over them. I keep an area near the woodland edge for wildflowers and the penstemons are thriving.
