I’m putting together the plan for the PEP marathon I’ll be doing with my 8 year old this summer and would love to do the rocket stove cooking.

The problems are

1. We live on a military base with a lot of housing rules, literally across the street from the guy in charge of setting them.
2. We have a weight limit for what we can take with us when we leave next summer

Sooo something like this is appealing, but I want to check and see if it’s a decent enough design to actually use the principles and not just using the term for marketing pizzazz. It doesn’t need to hold up to a lot of use, just enough to do some BBs and explore the tech a bit, and I like that this one breaks down for transport.

What do y’all think?

Detachable Wood Burning Stove Stainless Steel/Titanium Coating Rocket Stove for Outdoor Camping

I’d also love to hear of any other lightweight, portable rocket stoves anyone’s found/used.

Hi Jennifer;
Well if that isn't just the cutest little thing!   It took it a while to really get rocketing but rocket it did!
It is indeed a rocket stove in my opinion!
I'm not directly involved with PEP program but I think it would be acceptable.

Thanks for the look-over! 😁🚀 I look forward to actually building some rocket tech in the future when we get a more permanent (or at least less-scrutinized) place, but if this can help launch our journey I’ll likely grab one to try.

Yes that will hold up for a bit with occasional use.
Later at a better location. A pile of 30-40 clay bricks and some clay mortar, can build a quick L tube or J tube for your cooking/ heating pleasure!
Maybe Someday you will be in a place where you can have a batchbox RMH !

When it is used for evil, then watch out! When it is used for good, then things are much nicer. Like this tiny ad:
