I am in need of a composting toilet while repairing my bathroom I know how-to make but my question is is human manure actually safe after it is fully composted. Also can one add yeast or septic enzyme to it it to make break down faster more complete it will be in use for a few months I believe. I have read never to put it on food items I have herd compost one full year and 2 years than it totally safe. So confused.

The best compost toilet DOES NOT separate urine and poop. Any bucket to receive both will do. Sawdust will do the trick after every visit to the composting toilet. We've used our "ensemble" for eight years, and nasty smells or insects never pestered us.

The Willow feeder composting toilet system at Wheaton Labs is a brilliant composting toilet solution - more info here.

If you'd like to know what happens to the poop after it's been deposited, see the new video by Wesley (a current boot) just released!
