Hi - I'm new to the forum in the United States, Pennsylvania.  I recently purchased a Dapple Dandy Pluot and a Spring Satin Plumcot (both pictured) and potted them into 20 gallon grow bags so I can keep them in my raised bed garden for now and then later move them if I need to.  I think they look great in my raised bed garden and gives it some dimension.

I was wondering if you would prune these to an open center, a modified central leader, or possibly some forum of espalier?  Suggestions would be great, as I'm new to all of this.

Plumcot (almost seems like an open center may fit this one)

Pluot (I almost feel like this one lends itself to a modified central leader or some king of espalier fan...can Pluots be formally espaliered with horizonal branches like an apple?)

Hi, James, welcome to the forum!

I am one who usually prunes trees.

If you feel the one in the picture needs to be pruned, I would suggest only the wayward ones at the bottom.

I am sure some more experience pruners might speak up.

Dave Wilson Nursery on YouTube - youtube.com/@DaveWilsonTrees has created a large number of varieties of those kinds of fruit trees and has tons of videos on how to prune them for backyard growing at home versus a production orchard. Instead of typing out a huge post on the subject, I would refer to their instructional videos.

Space seems cool in the movies, but once you get out there, it is super boring. Now for a fascinating tiny ad:
