Urban Permaculture Design Opportunity

I hope this is a good spot for this post--it's my first so forgive me if it's not.

I am an aspiring permaculture practitioner (and very excited about the forums!), however, I have a project with which I would really like some assistance: developing a design for a half-acre property in Missoula. My husband and I just moved onto the property, and while I have done some successful work on our other home using permaculture principles, this one is much larger and we have grand list of elements we'd like to incorporate. So, we're looking to hire someone to assist with the design. Not sure the best way to connect, but if you're interested, maybe let me know here to start? Thanks!

I have a few questions:
-Why do you specifically want to hire someone to assist with the design?
-Is there something in the design process that you think you might have trouble with?
-Do you plan to do this in person, over the Internet, by phone, Skype, etc?

I have written a brief guide called Guide to Getting Help on Permaculture Projects on permies. It gives a pretty well-rounded overview of how to get help with projects on permies. There are also several resources listed on that thread to help you with the design process. My first permaculture design is on that thread, too.

I'd be happy to help you all, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the permies community would be happy to help, too.

Thanks for your great questions. Right, I guess the point of the forums is a DIY approach! My thinking in wanting to hire someone with more experience is just so that our design is really good, and I don't screw it up! : ) I have a friend in Albuquerque who is heavily involved with permaculture there and she had always advised reaching out, and even hiring someone, with design work--which is common in that area I guess. But, I also have been meaning to take a PDC for quite awhile, so perhaps now is the time to do so, and, along with engagement on the forums, eek out our design from there. Thanks for pointing me toward your guide! I will definitely check out it out as a starting point.

You're welcome! I like saving money which is part of why i was wondering why the first thing someone would consider is hiring someone. And, yeah, there are probably some things out that it would be advisable for only professionals to do, but with some time and effort anyone can do anything.

I am looking for a summer job, so if you want to hire me, I'd be ecstatic to! You can purple mooseage me about that if you want to.
Though, I do think it would be more fulfilling to know that the place you're living was designed by yourself.

The main thing I want to point out, because this has happened before on the forums, is that we are here to help and discuss things. We are not here to do the entire process for you. For that, you would have to hire someone, and that is typically discussed either through pm's or emails or phone calls.
