My friends at The Possibility Alliance asked me to be share this message in relevant spaces. I hope one of y'all can connect with them.

"The Possibility Alliance is relocating to Belfast, ME. We are an 11 year old experiment committed to gift economy, electricity- and petroleum-free living, social justice and embodying permaculture principles to the best of our ability. We are hoping to relocate our goats, chickens, bees, ducks, perennial plants, humans and homesteading equipment using veggie oil vehicles. (Diesel would also work and we'd plan to use biodiesel from 100% recycled sources). We are excited to pay for the services to bring abundance to your farm or project. The ride should be very fun and educational and a chance to build a stronger network in the movement.

We are also looking to purchase second hand yurts or tiny homes.

We hope to realize this move in late April or early May and we'll be moving from La Plata, MO to Belfast Maine.

Thank you

Hi Matthew....just an early "Welcome to Maine"!  Hope the move goes great.  There's a good level of Permie support here.  If you need more perennial edible plants/seeds when you get here there are multiple good sources here.

Hello Matthew!

While these two organizations may not be on exactly the same mission as the Possibility Alliance, they are at least like-minded and working on many of the same ideas. Perhaps you could ask the Possibility Alliance to reach out to them? Even if neither of these two organizations were able to participate directly with Possibility Alliance, I would bet they know who in Belfast WOULD be interested.

There is the Belfast Transition & Permaculture Group:
http://belfasttransition.org/contact-us.php
https://www.meetup.com/Belfast-Transition-and-Permaculture/

At least a couple of years ago they were discussing Tiny House living. I have not spoken with them for about two years since we moved away from Belfast (and onto a homestead where we DON'T have a "tiny house" just a small one )

There is also the Belfast Cohousing & Ecovillage:
http://mainecohousing.org/aboutcoho/aboutcoho.html

They are all about community-centered living and ecological balance in such a community. I have not personally spoken with anyone in this organization though I have spoken with a few of the residents. I'm sure Possibility Alliance could at least have a fruitful conversation with them.

I hope this may be of help

Matthew,

I live in the Greater Kansas City area and just became aware of the Possibility Alliance. It is disheartening to hear they are relocating away from the area before I was able to visit and get a profound sense of how it feels to live embedded inhabitation, but I wish you ALL the best!
Out of curiosity, are you able to share the impetus for the move? One potential motivator I deduced is to demonstrate that the principles and values embodied within Possibility Alliance can thrive in other bioregions (arguably, bioregions more harsh than these parts).

Hopefully you have completed your journey and are planting new and lasting roots.

I FEEL suave and debonair. Why can't you be as supportive as this tiny ad?
