Have I mentioned how happy I am to finally get to level one?  Very happy!

After chatting with lots of people, I've decided that my thank you to permies will be in the forum of a Live Webinar.  This would be free to permies people - tentatively hosted in the private Daily-ish forum so that anyone who is signed up to the dialy-ish email can access it while live and for a short while after for free.

Not sure yet what that is or how to do it or if anyone would be interested in what I have to say.

But I was kind of hoping that I could prepare 30 min of talking and people would interrupt me with questions.  Stretch it out to an hour.  Seems about right for my attention span.  Longer than that, I would need to break for tea.

I could do flax to linen, but I kind of want to do a more permies focused topic like growing textiles and stacking functions or Growing textiles in small spaces (referencing back to when I lived in a concrete cube in the city and what I did to grow cloth.  (would love some feedback on what you would like to learn about as these are pretty broad topics to cover in an hour).

But before we get there, I'm going to have to figure out what platform to use.

Zoom... it looks like I need to pay a lot of money to host a webinar.  That sucks (but understandable - I love that zoom gives so much free stuff that I'm okay with them hiding their special features behind a paywall)

Youtube live stream ... I have no idea how this works.  But here's the help page I'm linking to (mostly so I can find it later) https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2474026?hl=en-GB

What other options are there?

And is there actually any interest in this idea?  (translation, my imposter syndrome says this is a terrible idea, can you help me shut him up?)

Oh No!!! Do they really have BOTS on YouTube? The Internet sure is a filthy place, crawling with vermin, worse than a swampy pasture. I usually just clean the wound and then apply a little petroleum jelly or comfrey ointment...
  Best wishes! LOL

I've been doing daily happy-dance since I got there.

And I finally got approved for monetization.

To be honest, I expected it would start at about $4-10 per month (minimum payout at $100 and it takes about 3 months to get the money from them to the account once you pass the min).

I am happy to say, the income is considerably more than my expectation (and massively less than my goal of making youtube my primary income).  It's averaging a dollar a day.

I am not turning on all the different kinds of ads, especially since I really dislike what they call mid-roll ads.

Although, there is one video series where I'll be turning them on because part of the story is that the project is self-funding, and that includes youtube revenue.

So, a long way to go to get this as my main income.  But I'm also past that landmark.  I'm at level one.

From feedback here and elsewhere, I'm thinking of moving towards the videos I like better - more project-focused rather than tutorials.

With that in mind, have you seen today's madder video yet?

You mentioned, way back, you feel you have "flat intonation ".  Although I don't really hear this in your madder video; smiling and/or speaking facing a mirror can help, if you still feel it is an issue.

Personally, I find your speaking voice very pleasant and engaging.   The Silence of the Lambs reference was a wee bit creepy,  I prefer happy dyeing or perhaps  have a colorful day if the play on "dyeing" is too much for others.

Thank you.  I've been working hard on the intonation.  Still a long way from where I want to be, but I'm glad it's improving.

I haven't seen Silence of the Lambs.  I was going for the Wizard of Oz with my pretties... drat.  Maybe I need to add a clip or picture from the show I'm aiming for if I reference pop culture.

I'm pretty sure that's what I picked up. But I might have thought it was Gollum from Lord of the Rings. But he says "precious," so I was probably just confused.

Maybe I need to add a clip or picture from the show I'm aiming for if I reference pop culture.

Ooooh, that'd be fun!

Full disclosure; neighbours shot off fireworks at the end, dogs lost it, I heard the voice, not exactly ALL the words - with the provided verbal subtitles,  makes MUCH more sense, and MUCH less creepy!

I really enjoyed this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cLOPCAJKeLE titled: Flax to Linen: How to grow flaxseed and transform it into linen cloth

It was fascinating and I have a new appreciation for my linen articles of clothing. I didn’t know not to fold them so now I need to look up what rolling them looks like.

Thanks Raven!

Glad you liked it.
A lot of people roll it around a stick or a tube, like posters used to come in.  I'm too lazy for that and just roll them like a jelly roll.

But today I looked and I'm only a couple of subs away from 2k!!!
