I kept getting a CRSN (is that the correct acronym?) message last week. I tried re-posting, logging out and then back in. Nothing worked so I gave up.

Hi,

Thanks for this awesome website and these awesome forums.

I had a problem today.

I got the following email from Paul today, which I understood to imply that the podcasts with Larry Korn and Art Ludwig would be available through today, through the time that days are usually thought to end, midnight.

"Yesterday we had some technical difficulties which appear to have been resolved this morning. Some people were not able to create accounts and some people were not able to post questions/comments. And the worst of it was that Larry Korn was not able to answer your questions!

We think we have things mended now. Larry is posting and we are getting reports that people are now able to do what they would like to do.

So please come on out and visit with Larry and others about that amazing works of Masanobu Fukuoka:

https://permies.com/forums/f-104/fukuoka

We will give away books and seedballs and all sorts of fun things tonight or tomorrow morning.

If you are having any trouble using the forums this afternoon, please report it here:

https://permies.com/t/21220"

I could not play the podcasts today at about 7-8pm.

Below is the email that i sent to Paul on the subject.

"Thanks for this focus on Masanobu Fukuoka. Great stuff. He is one of my all time heros.

I tried to listen to the podcasts by Larry Korn and Art Ludwig today, Feb 3, at about 7-8pm, and for all three I got "Not Found." See below.

I was crushed as this email to me implied that these would still be available through today.

We are putting in a 1/4 acre permaculture food forest in SE Portland, and this is all vital info and I cannot afford to purchase the podcasts.

I also entered at the link you gave us below and told them about the trouble that I had.

Thanks for all your great work.

I hope I can listen to the podcasts. It would be better for the world for me to know what they said, and it would be better for your soul for you to keep your word.

Many Thanks,
Pamela Melcher

Mark, we certainly had some problems last week, but are you still having problems posting? If yes, can you please add the details like the browser details and also what exactly leads you to the error?

Tyler, are you still having problems with Firefox? When you do see that error page? Can you once do a force refresh (Ctrl + F5) or clear up your browser cache and cookies once and see if that gets you past this?

Some more test data for you...

Experienced false alarm CSRF problem trying to access link to unwatch message thread from email.
Good luck with the troubleshooting!

BUT n.b. it seems I have been authenticated (and may well have been on the IE and Chrome previous tests): e.g. I can go to https://permies.com/t/21220/tnk/system-oddness and see an active link to post a reply.

Jaikiran,

When was the last update to JForum on permies? If more recent than yesterday morning, maybe we should start a new round of testing ??

We haven't deployed anything new to permies after yesterday morning. Just keeping track of the remaining reported issues.

I can't post in Firefox. When I hit "submit" that error message comes up. I tried doing Ctrl + F5 and nothing happened as far as I could tell. I'm on Mac OS 10. I don't know how to clear up my browser cache and cookies.

I'm currently posting in Chrome.

The only weirdness I'm noticing in Chrome is when I click submit, the browser jumps to the top of the page.

Brenda Groth reported not being able to post using IE this morning. I asked her to try clearing the browser history and cookies to see what happens.

Ben Mosley says he can't post replies running Firefox 18 on Win 7 machine.

John, please let us know if you see that behaviour again.

For all the others that were not part of the email chain between John and I, he was able to post using IE, then posted on this thread. Someone replied to the thread and John tried to unsubscribe through the email, which led him to the CSRF error and he could not post again until he restarted the browser.

yes it did happen again, I posted in rocket stove forum, got a reply, an email, clicked unsubscribe, logged in and got the error. I closed out and opened the site but was able to post to the thread as well as click "stop watching" to stop watching the thread this time. So, better but still glitchy.

Calen,

where did you get the link? At the top of the youTube video? That is the one to use, not the share one

Here I am embedding one. All I did it copy and paste the link at the top.

I was able to post and respond to personal messages within the last day or two and then I started getting the error messages again. I sent an email to Adrien who suggested that I clear my browser history and cookies again (I did this 3-4 days ago). It has worked, so far. I am hoping that it will continue and that it won't be necessary to continually clear the browser history and cookies. I am using IE.

There was one of those modifiers in the link. I removed the NR=1& from the middle and now it works.
Thanks!

Being basically ignorant about what goes on inside my computer, I decided to wait it out, since I figured some genius in computer land would set things right. Now that I know that doing nothing to help myself is an effective strategy, I may alter my political views to match.

I am only able to post by reloading each time. Otherwise I receive the error notice. I also seem to be suddenly logged off for no apparent reason occasionally.

Which browser are you using, Judith? As for being logged off, do you have checked the "keep me logged in" (or whatever it's called) on, on the login page?

I only use an amazon kndle with 3G connectivity and amazon's exerimental browser...whatever that means. We have no computer or paid for service...just what was included in the cost of this kindle model. I do check the stay logged in box...this is just the past few days it logs me off suddenly. I am adapting so it isn't really a problem...I just thought I would add to this thread in case it meant something. It is beoming like every other mechanical thing we own...working with the quirks.

Judith, if your IP keeps changing, that might be the reason why you keep getting logged off. I have had that happen to me when going from my place to a coffee shop with my laptop. Even though the "stay logged in" option was selected I had to log in again.

I am finding that if I reload before each posting everything is normal. If I don't reload I get the error message and usually lose my post...sometimes I can retrieve it from history.

I get this error when I try to start a thread. I can reply to threads perfectly fine.

I'm usin an iPhone 4 and a Samsung tab 2 which uses a google browser. Both the phone and tablet give me the same msg.

The software thinks there was a CSRF error. The fact that you are seeing this means there was not in fact such an attack. There are three main reasons you might see this page:
You've had this browser open a long time and tried to update something without loading another page in the interim. For example, you were on the form to create a new post, went for lunch, had your session expire and came back. To resolve this, go back and reload the page. This will give you a new token and you'll be all set. If you find this happening to you a lot, post exactly what you were doing in the forums and we will see if we can do anything to help you out.
If you were just trying to view a page and not update something, we have a bug at our end. For example, maybe you clicked the search link and saw this screen. If you think there is a bug, post the date/time/timezone and what you were doing in the forums.
You have JavaScript turned off in your browser
If any of these apply to you, try to post to let us know about it. If the error prevents you from posting, email what you were trying to do and which of the three categories you think the error falls into to bookpromotion at javaranch dot com and moosesaloon at javaranch dot com
