It was in my allotment garden before I rented it. I didn't know, but it showed up after some months (I started there in February). Because I did not know all plants growing in 'my new garden' it surprised me, this nice climber: it wanted to grow in the middle of a path! Luckily it wanted to grow at both sides of the path too. And in many other places (it's somewhat invasive, and here in the Netherlands it isn't
native, so I need to be cautious ...).
Okay. So I had this climber climbing at the side of my new garden shed, and in a
garden bed at the opposite side of the path. Coming back every new Spring. This year is the third year (of me renting this allotment garden and of the Apios plants coming back). It has beautiful flowers. But of
course there has to be a 'yield' too. Difficult to find, those 'nuts' attached to the
roots, deep in the ground!
Today I decided to go on a deep search. I dug up all I could find in the bed next to the path (not the one near the garden shed). Finally success! My first real 'American
Groundnut', here you see it (with the small knife for scale):
