extreme direct sowing

I like direct sowing and do this with most of my veggies, lettuces, silverbeet and all the other stuff.
But there are some veggies I always raised seedlings so far: broccoli, tomatoes, tomatillo, peppers, aubergines, ground cherries...
Did anyone try to direct sow these? What were the results?

I have tomatoes which sowed themselves out last year, but deliberately direct sowing peppers or ground cherries or aubergines??
The difference is the amount of seeds i guess.

Ground cherries do very well, just throw seeds and even whole fruit in the area you want them in, they'll pop up when the soil warms.

Thanks the soil is not warm now it is hot! Our climate is just crazy, i'll give it a try.
(Our climate is cool but it feels like subtropical now with storms in the afternoon!!)
