If you soak the diapers in a smaller container containing the borax or borax/soda mix, then you can cut down on the amount of product making it to the final wash.

I wash our kids diapers without a soak most of the time and it all goes to grey water. No issues and the plants love the nitrogen.

Make sure to remove the poo!

I was in the same situation with the core for the HRV. I didn't want to spend the money on purchasing a pre-made unit but I was unable to find a viable option to build the core myself that performed well and was less expensive.

The closest option I found were intercooler cores from turbocharged cars. They flow well, all aluminum construction and are some of the lowest costing heat exchangers I could find for the size. I am a machinist by trade so modifying was no big deal... In the end.. I bought a used HRV unit of appropriate size.

So You are building a solar heated HRV essentially? Using the sun to warm the incoming air instead of the conventional way? What is the role of the heat exchanger in the design?

I have a super-insulated home I built so I am familiar with most of this.

This is wonderful, thank you!

I have been doing things very similar to this on my property over the last few years. I didn't know others were also.

I started because of the need to divert water and it be free. I started by raking the fall leaves into piles that were on contour of any slope where I wanted to capture water. Anywhere that I can mow, I blow the clippings from the pasture pr wherever onto the contour leaf piles once or twice a season. If I can't mow I will throw a layer of clover hay full of seed onto the piles and let that work before being covered again. After 2 or 3 seasons I drop some topsoil/compost on top and plant it.

Is steel an option? Old railroad track I-beam comes to mind.

Why not go with the seeding and the liming? Plant your seed and run the chickens this season and apply the required lime in the fall.

I am on very similar ground but on the NW shores of the Lower. Getting your pH correct and raising the OM% are the priorities for good production on these soils.

You are going to need gypsum to add to your Ca and remove some of the K from the base CEC sites. Also, your P is in need of almost triple of where it is. I would use bone meal and Calphos/soft rock phosphate to build those levels.

Somewhere to the tune of 6,000 lbs gypsum and 3,000 lbs P per acre... Divide that into your square footage.

I can recommend the Parmak 12v solar powered charger. We have multiple paddocks powered by one unit and even with high weeds the fence will work.
