(now i have to go clean mold off wood floors, (w/ 46% vinegar) many window sills and wall in this cute 1950 cottage rental -has incredible ocean view but poorly maintained by owner for decades, the OR coast is very limited in good rentals and mold is common on wood structures, should have used bricks ).   have a great night, hugs to your dogi.

happy holidays to you and the gang and take care of the lil animals!.  hugs from rumi and aranka

Yesterday 12/23

After the morning meeting, we headed over to the shop and got the fire going to warm things up. While we were there, Stephen walked us through how to safely operate the router, going over proper setup and safety considerations before use.

After that, Molly and I were tasked with making two signs—one for deliveries and another for landfill and recycling. We took our time laying them out and working through the process step by step.

Later on, we headed up to the Abbey to check in on the cats, then continued on to the sawmill site. There, we processed two logs into panels and hauled them back to basecamp.

Once that was wrapped up, we spent the remainder of the boot day continuing work on the wooden burn sign project. We closed out the day together with Tuesday soup bowl day, which was a perfect way to end a full and productive day. 🍲

Aww… thank you, truly. Your words landed softly and warmly, like a hand on the shoulder at just the right moment. I’m grateful you see the heart behind the work and the words—it means more than I can say. The idea of one day shaping these journals into something others can hold and feel… that really stirred something hopeful in me. 🌱

Sending you so much respect and encouragement as you take on the mold battle—what a labor of care that is. That little 1950s cottage sounds full of character and stories, even if it’s asking a lot of you right now. An ocean view has a way of making the hard work feel a little more worth it, doesn’t it? Wishing you fresh air, clear corners, and a deep breath when it’s all done.

I’ll pass the hugs along to my dogi—he’ll gladly soak them up. And thank you for the holiday wishes; they’re returned to you and Rumi tenfold. May your days be gentle, your space feel lighter, and all the little animals around you feel the love you so naturally give.

B.E.L. Post # 54

After this morning’s meeting, we headed out to the Abbey to start repairing the junkpole fencing. For now, we’re doing temporary repairs in an old fort–style fashion — quick to put up and effective at keeping the deer out. Once Stephen is back from vacation, it will all get reverted to the more permanent setup. Even so, we made solid progress and completed two panels by lunchtime.

After the work was done, we shifted gears and watched Bad Santa 2, which made for a pretty relaxed afternoon. Paul was incredibly kind and picked us up Chinese food, and even managed to snag my special request of feta cheese — much appreciated.

Later in the evening, we all gathered and opened one present each. Molly received a permaculture DVD, Melissa got a rad t-shirt, Stephen opened a banana shirt, Paul received a cool heavy-duty trowel, and I was gifted an awesome canvas work bib that I absolutely love to pieces.
