Looks great and thanks for sharing! I think making mini-hugel beds around existing planting areas could really help. I did something similar around a Japanese maple that the previous owners of my place planted in a spot that was way to hot and dry. So far that tree has done great with no supplemental watering and I'm giving the mini-hugel bed and the thick mulch I put down the credit
