Where to begin?

I live in Arco Idaho and have 10 dry acres.

Where do I begin to learn how and even if I can profit from fiber products in our area... We are very remote from the rest of the world so getting a market is a challenge, NOT IMPOSSIBLE THOUGH.

I have flax growing wild around here but it's not the same as other pictures I have seen, much smaller.

What is the minimum equipment needed and where is the best place to find them affordably?

I would really like to know what surface gives for making what.... and how much.
What linen surface gives a dress? And how much for bed sheets?
Is it the most affordable crop for clothing?

I would look into selling on etsy and similar websites. It definitely helps with the geographical limitations

Hey, I’m in Idaho Falls and Ive been looking into native/local fibers recently just for a possible hobby. From my inexperienced perspective, flax processing seems like it might be time intensive. I’m a little curious about what you were looking at for growing out there as far as irrigation vs dry land farming, adapting to cold weather and snow and all that because it’s something that we deal with to a much lesser degree. And since it’s been about 2 years since your post, an update would be cool too!
