CENSORSHIP

I just spent the better part of an hour writing out a whole lot of information on a topic, and it was "Moved to the compost heap?!? - Without any given notice or reason why ?!?
What kind of garbage is this ?!?!?
I want whomever is really in charge of this forum to get involved and explain this nonsense!

As the owner of this site, I alone determine what that means.

So I read the stuff in that thread and some of it was outside of my comfort zone of what I am willing to publish.  Less than my idea of nice.  I moved it to the compost heap where I might take the time later to pick through the thread and figure out how I might bring it back into my comfort zone and remind people about "be nice".

I think it is good to express a position without bashing somebody else's position.  This way, everybody can share without fear of ... well ... getting bashed. 

You might want to take a look at this thread on censorship.  and maybe the be nice thread to get a better idea of what my comfort zone is.

There are certainly ways to handle things - and that, in order to be either consistent or reasonable is a two-way street.

I do not want to cause problems, and I equally do not want to be caused problems.
When someone does in fact make make extreme, baseless presumptions, when they have neither seen nor even inquired as to any details whatsoever, and then uses those extreme, baseless presumptions made in ignorance to shoot down a whole concept before it has hardly left the ground, it defeats the whole purpose of a forum, and most certainly is not "Nice" to say the least, and defeats the whole purpose of a Forum.  It is your site to do with as you please, but it is also a "Forum" as titled, which naturally has a certain basic nature and purpose.

In too many forums, people play favorites, and when one person thrashes another, they get away with it because they are a favorite, but if the other person points out what they are doing and tries to defend themselves or the thread or concept, THEY get penalized - that is wrong, it is what has happened here, and it is why I am skeptical of getting involved in them, because I am not someone's door mat any more than anyone else should be.

I sincerely hope that you are not the kind who plays favorites, and can have some respect for someone pointing out how their post has been wrongfully thrashed, and would naturally want to set the record straight.

As for whether I play favorites:  i suspect I probably do.  Especially for those folks that express my position, or share their ideas that are well aligned with the way I like to see ideas shared. 

These forums are for a very small audience.  It is not my intent to attract the masses, but to actually attract a small minority and repel the rest. 

If you think you see somebody behaving outside of my comfort zone, please click on "report to moderator" and then move on with the assumption that that most might soon disappear.  Please refrain from commenting on post that might get deleted, because that would just create more work for me as I delete your post too.
