We live in a tiny house Mongolian Ger/ yurt and are wondering if anyone else has had experience with painting their canvas cover to help extend the canvas life. Wondering if a latex is the way to go or water based... not very familiar with painting but thought it may help prevent mildew of the canvas and help it last longer. Any suggestions would be helpful 😊 thanks fellow permies!

I have no experience with this situation or materials...but that's never yet stopped me from answering a question with another question!

Do you anticipate taking your yurt down within the hoped-for lifespan of the canvas?

If so, seems like the paint or coating would need to be very flexible and resistant to cracking..

If not, I can see paint working alright... for that matter, a fibreglassed yurt would probably last a *really* long time.

Are you concerned about any issues resulting from compromising breathability/permeability of the canvas?

Good luck!
