don't get tick bit

just thought i would share an experience

I was bit by a larval deer tick, it must have been in spring or early summer. Looking back I now realize that I was tired and lacking energy from about mid june. By mid july I was fever every day and was falling asleep every afternoon.
I finally had an episode where I passed out and and my arms and legs were flopping around, this landed me in the emergency room. Once the doctor tested my blood and urine and realized I don't do drugs they wanted to know what was going on with me. I was seeing things and halucinating and my temperature went up and down several degrees while I was in the ER. I had uncontrollable shivers and shakes.
Fortunately I was at a very good hospital and after about 30 tubes of blood a lab tech who was really on the ball though he saw something in a blood sample called babesiosis. They had to send blood off to a specialized lab to be sure.
It turned out that 1% of my blood was babesiosis parasites. The symptoms and treatment are very similar to Malaria. It has been 3 weeks since I finished the medications and I still dont have my strength back. the doctor in the hospital told me it might be a couple months till I'm back to normal and he sure was not kidding.
So protect yourself outdoors I dont wish what I been through on anyone

I worry so much about tick bites.

I mow the sides of the road for several towns, and naturally where I mow is ideal tick country. When I change my knives, the mower deck is literally CRAWLING with ticks. I carry tick spray, but still. the ticks are so thick!

Sorry to hear about your issue. I almost lost my life from a burn one time from an infection that would not heal (MRSA). I had to have antibiotics, twice a day for two weeks to kill it...
