Has anyone here used a cement sprayer to stucco strawbale or as a finish coat on cob or other structure? If so, what kind did you use and have you tried spraying anything other than cement with it? (As in mud, lime mixtures, etc.) How did those work?
Sorry for all the questions, but I have a Tirolessa sprayer that I am wanting to sell (unused) and I am wondering if I should go ahead and sell it or hang on to it just in case. Thanks for any input!
Go to youtube and look for papercrete sprayer. There are several related links where the sprayer brands are visable. For multi purpose spraying you want the kind where only the air arrives through the hose. The material being sprayed is scooped from a bucket.
We used the Tirolessa to apply the slip coat to bith the exterior and interior walls of our straw bale house. I found the sprayer to be messy but effective for this but when in came to the stiffer mix we wanted it didn't work so well. I could apply it faster by hand. Plus I enjoyed getting my hands dirty and could get a better "read" off of the walls as to how it was adhering and what spots needed more material. I intend on playing with the sprayer more on my next structure!
I don't have a tirolesa sprayer yet, but I plan to in the future for monolithic dome construction. But to those who have has anyone tried using it for broadcast seeding? I wondered if the exit shute was big enough, as I presume the velocity would get seeds decently into the soil vs hand tossing. At first I was thinking hydroseed posibilities but the muck it distributes is more a sludge pump task.
