How many years does it take for a planted tree to produce fruit?  About how tall would it be at that point?  Thanks.

This is one of the most open-ended questions I've ever seen. It's like asking how long is a string.

It could be two years and breast height for a small fig or 25 years and 100 ft tall for some rainforest trees that give a bit of fruit.

With the majority of temperate fruits, you're not going to get much of anything for 5 years. When not pruned for height, many will get too tall when they are quite young, and by the time they really get producing, you'll need a big ladder.
