I'm trying to figure out where to plant my true comfrey seeds, and the very best place for it (in terms of ease of access, proximity to insectary areas and areas to mulch, and plenty of room to spread) is in a long wedge of ground that I may want to drive a truck over at most once a year. This area leads to an old falling-down shed that's full of junk we rarely have to access, and I maybe walk out to that shed once every few months or so. One day the landlord is going to have to have somebody come out and tear down the shed and build something else, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

My question is: If I were to plant true comfrey in this area and basically let it do its thing, are the uses I describe above likely to kill it, or would it rebound fairly well?

I think you'll be ok. Comfrey is often grown under fruit trees to chop and use as a mulch in place where it grew, and is also chopped and added to compost piles, and it grows back.

Amazingly resilient!  The roots will keep spreading.

Think of how dumb the average person is. Mathematically, half of them are EVEN DUMBER. Smart tiny ad:
