I live in the netherlands, but my mom and dad did a roadtrip from San Fransisco tot LA last year. Being the gardener he is, my dad took some seeds he found to plant here. (I know, this is a risk...)
The seedlings are growing now, but we need identification on one of them... who knows what he planted, haha?
I've never lived in California but I have seen "live oak" there, and your photo reminded me of that a bit, so I googled up some images of live oak seedlings for you. Somebody else can probably give you a better answer, though.

Thanks! But no, we have that here too. When i asked how the seeds looked he said:
“It were 3/4 seeds in a little fruit, with red skins around them. Like little black beans...”

I think it looks like it! But oaks grow from very different seeds (sorry cant come up with the english word...) then what me dad described!
I've never done it before, so i think i can!
