One of this year's cushaws had a really soft, easy to peel skin, though to be fair it could have been a hybrid mospermia. Of course, it had to be eaten early in the season as they don't store well with soft skins.

And then there was this one, which I'd already nearly lost a finger to trying to decapitate it. No way was I gonna risk that again, so it got the log-splitter treatment!

Soup is now cooking. Nom.

Some of the seeds had already started to grow.  

I think storing them in the house, which is nice and cozy and warm even in January, has tricked it into thinking it's spring.
