Anyone use old flour to control garden bugs

has anyone used old flour that's gone bad to control bugs in the garden. What bugs will it help control? I happen to have come across a couple bags of flour that were not stored properly and have heard rumors it can be used for pest control.

Here is what I would suggest:

Place the old flour in something like a garden duster or saltshaker.

Shake the plants to get the bugs moving, then dust the bugs and the leaves of the plant with the flour.

After about two days, rinse the flour off of the plants.
