Looking for estimates of the weight of a cordwood wall. Specifically, dry cedar logs, 30", stacked relatively tightly, 8' high and 8' wide section. The average dia. of the cedar logs is about 10".
Dry cedar boards are approximately 23lbs per cubic foot. I would guess yours will be less dry than kiln dried so say 25lbs. Thats 1600lbs for an tight 8x8 wall at a foot thick just to make the math easier and assuming the cordwood material (cement or cob) used between your logs is about the same weight. I would guess maybe a bit heavier, maybe anywhere from 1600-2000lbs.
