I'm working on a design for a woman who likes to prune trees/shrubs kind of japanese style, so I've been trying to think of plants that are edible-or-permacultural, and that Like that sort of thing done to them....
It's not the usual thing we look for in permaculture plants, but hey, any ideas?

I once saw a place where a fella planted two apple trees about six fee apart. As the trees got to a certain height, he encouraged them to make an arbor shape. As time passed, the arbor looked better and better.
