Hi there, we are building a earth sheltered greenhouse in the style of Mike oehler. We've got an issue where we have got bed Rock in the front where we were going to our the cold sink. We can go 1' down but no further.

Looking for some advice on how to move forward. We are going to have a rocket mass Heater in the greenhouse and we have electricity so we can run fans. Do we even need the cold sink?

If you have heat, you probably don't need it.  I think it would really help, but what are you going to do?  Dynamite is probably out of the question.  You will use a lot more fuel than you would with a cold sink I would imagine, but it doesn't seem like you have a choice.

From what I can tell, a cold sink is a place for the cold air to stratify to that's well beneath the level of the plants , an earth tube that sloped continuously down and out of the green house might work as well or better.
But I might not be understanding it correctly.
