Saw this as being a great way to chop up next years wood. Seems like a great way to teach someone how to operate a backhoe while getting some work done out of it as well.
I wouldn't do this even with an exsperenced backhoe operator, much less a novice who isn't comfortable with the controls. I've almost been hit more than once working with an exsperenced operator. I would get a log splitter it would be safer and you wouldn't have to climb out and set up logs or have someone do it for you.
I had heard of people just using the bucket as is to split firewood. I tried it...miserable failure. I thought attaching a wedge to an outrigger might work...nope! the wood lifted that 35,000lbs like it was nothing, lol!
