I have a rhubarb plant that seems like it's being "eaten" by tall grass. Will the rhubarb kill off the tall grass in a few years (it spreads by sending up new stalks from the rhizome)?
Do I need to worry? What should I do (not set up for chickens)?
You can eat anything once, sometimes more than once.
I put a square of old cedar fence boards around mine and mulch heavy, it also give me a place to put compost/manure in in the spring since it is a heavy feeder. But the grass doesn't seem to bother mine on those plants I have not corraled.
Our inability to change everything should not stop us from changing what we can.
Maybe it has something to do with what kind of tall grass that you have?
Most of my tall grass is easy to pull up, especially when young.
Mine is a native bunch grass.
Though some other varieties of tall grass might choke it out like johnsongrass.
I like Robert's suggestion of heavy mulch.
