Native American sunflowers (wild and domestic).

Good day folks! I wanna talk about sunflowers and how important they are to Native American society. I've grown Seneca and mammoth sunflower so far this year, and planted another type last year. The wild ones I have are sunchoke and sawtooth sunflower at my community farm plot. I wanna find out if tall and woodland sunflowers are used as delicacies to this day, as have sumpweed, wild common sunflower and couple of others from the sunflower family. The tribes I'm concentrating on for my Eastern woodland gardens are Potawatomi, Miami, Illinois, Sauk, Kickapoo, and Ho Chunk locally and Cherokee to honor my late grandmother from Oklahoma in the 1800s. I need your help in finding sunflowers from some of these tribes so I can restore the awareness of my community to be reconciled back to history. Anybody grown annual common sunflower, one growing wild in the plains region such as Kansas?
