Hi Sarah,

I am also a Weston A Price Foundation chapter leader here in California, although fairly new to it.

Our family has been on GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome diet recommended by Dr Natasha Campbell McBride to heal gut issues) for two years now, and have just introduced raw milk, which is technically beyond GAPS. We all seem to be doing well with the milk which is really nice as I have been milking our goats for about 4 years now and finally 3 of us can drink it (my husband has been drinking it all along). However, my 9 year old son still hasn't really got over his exercise induced asthma during this two years. It is certainly much better than it has been in the past, and he hasn't used an inhaler in over a year, but it hasn't disappeared. The milk doesn't seem to be affecting it one way or the other as far as I can tell.

I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on how to help the asthma specifically?

Thanks,
Ann

I don't have any suggestions other than to say time will tell. 18 months to 3 years is the length of time on GAPS according to what I've heard in lectures by Dr. Campbell-McBride for children to reverse GAPS conditions such as asthma. Perhaps your child just needs another year since you've done just 2 so far. Everyone is different. It is likely he will always have a weakness here that he will have to watch out for even with full recovery.

Hi Ann. I have had asthma for 40 years and started on GAPS 8 months ago. In about 3 weeks I was off all asthma medication but several months later got pregnant and started back on small amounts of raw milk, sourdough bread and potatoes. To make a long story short after awhile my asthma began to come back and so I started taking Camu Camu and found this would alleviate my attacks! Camu camu is very high in Vit C so it supports the adrenal glands and is a natural antiinflamatory. I found taking about 3/4 teaspoon twice daily would keep my attacks away so maybe have your son try taking some about 30 minutes before he exercises. Another thing that has helped me in the past is cayenne pepper, either a dash in warm water or in a capsule form. Fortunately for me I went back to a strict GAPS diet 2 days ago and my asthma is completely gone again! Dr. Pottinger also has a respiratory tonic that he used to give his patients. It is in the Nourishing Traditions book and I believe it is a teaspoon of grated grass fed liver, a cup or two of tomato juice and a dash of tobasco sauce. I believe I read to drink it daily. Best of luck!

This looks like a job for .... legal tender! It says so right in this tiny ad:
