I have tried unsuccessfully to start cuttings in the past.  I watched yet another video and decided to give it another try.  I'm so glad I did.  Not only is it working this time, but I just lost my Okinawa spinach one of the plants I'm propagating to a gopher.  Now instead of having to buy it again, I can plant one of my cuttings.
Okinawa spinach isn't the best choice for my area, because it likes lots of water, but it's such a pretty plant. My sister in-law wanted one. It must be one of the easier cuttings to start, because I didn't loose even one.  The next one I plant will have to be in a raised bed, or have a gopher cage around it's roots.
I'm so glad I decided to give it another try.  Not only did it save me money, it's totally cool to stick a stem with a couple of leaves on it, and end up with a plant that will grow and produce.  I want to do more.

It's always nice when this works out!
My cousin gave me a cutting of an anise plant she got from her mother-in-law and had growing in the yard of her office building when I told her I just could not get them started from seed. A few months later it's spring, the new plant (as well as a smaller cutting I took from it) looks great. Meanwhile, my cousin just told me she's got to vacate her office in two weeks and won't be able to take any plants. I'm glad to be able to offer her at least a piece of her mother-in-law's plant back, when she has her new space!
